First Honorary Member

Jacobus Henricus Van ‘t Hoff Presentation After much deliberation, the leaders of Borlase’s Chemistry Society have officially decided to offer their first honorary membership to Jacobus Henricus Van ‘t Hoff for his countless contributions to Physical Chemistry, Chemical dynamics, and hairstyling. We will be commemorating this event with a special presentation in his honour, recounting the vast contributions he has made to scientific advancement.

Thursday 1st February: Briggs-Rauscher Oscillating reaction

The Briggs-Rauscher Oscillating reaction uses a reaction that cycles between clear, amber and blue in a periodic way. This unique experiment is aimed at determining different levels of antioxidants in foods. This is because the antioxidants will decrease the rate of the reaction between the three chemicals.
